Who In The What Now?

So WTF, you ask, are TWoP-style recaps? If you’re not familiar with Television Without Pity, I can’t really blame you. The website’s been relegated to archive mode since 2014, when Bravo bought it and promptly ran it into the ground. Stupid Bravo. (I’M LOOKING AT YOU, ANDY.) 

Before then, it was a mix of lengthy, hilarious, occasionally insightful, and always snarky recaps of shows both horrible and beloved. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been watching something and grinned thinking about what the recapper would have to say about THAT twist. Or, more recently, sighing sadly that I’ll never know. From reality trash to highbrow sci-fi, it just made watching TV better. 

I used to daydream about being a writer for TWoP. When the site went under, that dream DIED. Then, while looking for something to do with myself, I decided to try writing a recap, just for fun. I picked “The 100” because it’s that perfect blend of CW cheese and really fucking smart sci-fi, and I had recently become obsessed with it. 

Cut to now, having plowed my way through an entire season of episodes, and I’m finally a TWoP writer! Just, you know, minus the TWoP part. And the pay. 

If this continues to hold my interest (and if anyone else enjoys it), I’ll keep posting. I’ve already got another pilot started (“Roswell, New Mexico”), and frankly I don’t even really mind if no one reads these things. They’re just fun to write. But if you do enjoy them, comment and share and all that jazz.
